This meeting was held along with all the heads of all the departments in the art festival focusing on three things: finalizing the theme, finalizing the venue and finalizing whether or not we should be merging with the music festival. We agreed that we will have the theme of 'fantasy', as it would allow the decorations team to be more creative and go out-of-the-box. We also agreed that we would use Binus Simprug as our venue for reasons such as: easier to control, back up is available, no transport time, it is flexible to us and it would be cheaper than any other venue. Finally, we also agreed that we would not merge with the music festival due to some reasons that are: it would be more costly, venue would have to be according to them and it would be less flexible to us. It was a great meeting and with self initiative and concentration, we were able to quickly get decisions done after loads of discussions and counter arguments. What i realized was, that it is impossible to satisfy each and every one. There will always be some who are for and against. I also learned that everyone has many different points and it may be hard to communicate with everyone at the same time in order to get to the same understanding. But i learned that discussing things and having it written down really helps. So next time, when i have the need to convey something to people, whether they will like it or not, it is important to put it on paper. That way, it would be more legit and serious. I am also glad that if you are given an opportunity, when i give an opportunity to others, people will always be open and self initiated to talk as well. 

20 November 2013, Wednesday

Today was our first meeting, with most of the members along with my two vice's: Patrick and Reza. This was new because I had to be able to communicate with two other people instead of making the decisions by myself. Today, we did the explanation of the art festival: planned venue, date, theme and most importantly, job allocation. This was when i was able to test my ability in working with others and seeing my strength and weakness along with the other peoples strengths and weaknesses. For now, that is all, because i want them to be able to focus first on their exams and assessments. I hope we can start focusing work again when we come back to school for semester 2. I plan to have a meeting with the heads of the departments and me, reza and patrick after the exams, so that during the break we can actually do something and when we come back, we won't be off track.
